TIRED, TRIED AND TRUE

Well, I did the obligation I was committed to tonight, standing from 5:15 until 11:15; gee, am I tired. We were astounded how many people came from around the entire state of Indiana, north to south and east to west. We even had visitors from our southern neighbor, Kentucky. Yes, it's a good cause and good camaraderie but I have to admit, I am glad today is over regarding our meeting tonight!

Interesting talks around town today about various campaign races. Some people think the Mayor's race will be close; others don't.

As I have my own opinions (Lord, help me), I do not think the Mayor's race will be that close. The race between McLaughlin and Aebersole will be close, I feel. With Mr. Stewart passing away; unless he wins, Mr. Gahan will be taking that seat again. We still feel strongly Mr. Price will win the third district. We surely hope Diane McCartan Benedetti (?) wins the Slate Run area. Mr. Coffee is unopposed. As I am sure I have left a couple of districts out, I am going to blame that on how tired I am. The At-Large Seats will be any one's guess...that ought to be a doozy, though.

Don't worry, be happy... It will not be long now until we find out what all of our futures hold for this fair City.

Now, time to get ready for MeeMaw's four year old grand baby. He'll arrive bright and early and his MeeMaw sure is bushed.

Happy Halloween NA. Peace.

Happy Halloween!
I hope the ghosts, goblins, and all around ghouls of this night is not a sign of how the elections will turn out next week!
Remind everyone you know to VOTE!!

With elections looming ever closer it's becomming even more important that we remember, and remind, from whence we came to get to where we are now in New Albany.
England's bid for another election is almost a slap in the face for any persons who have lived thru his previous administrations.
If it seems people have been running for the hills the past few years, just wait and see what happens if Dougie pulls it out for another 4 year round of "good 'ol boys" politics.
New Albany still has potential. It's obvious by the HH crowds that people will indeed come to Downtown New Albany if only it had something to offer.
New leadership with new vision for our city is what we must insist on.

We sure are getting out the vote and it is startling to hear how vocal people are in this election.

Maybe, just maybe, some blinders have come off in this town benefiting us all!

Remember, VOTE -- and I'd say vote often, but you can't.

THIS IS OUR FUTURE, OUR TOWN AND IT IS TIME TO TAKE IT BACK. IT HAS BEEN MISSING IN ACTION FOR AWHILE, BUT KNOWLEDGE IS POWERFUL AND I FEEL WE HAVE ALL HAD A WAKE UP CALL.

Thank you, State of Indiana, for sending me a little brochure a couple of years ago telling me how powerful blogs were going to affect elections.

Darned if they aren't!

And, I still have that feeling you haven't seen anything yet!

Not to change the subject, but this goes to my friend Susan. Susan, if you are feeling any better at all and decide to peruse cyberspace, they have laid metal sheets across Main down by Butler where the manhole was overflowing on the dry weather day of Friday; the day after the tornado warnings.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL, Boo! My four year old grandson bounced out of bed and has been absolutely wired all day (no sugar) to hit the streets with his new spiderman costume and trick or treat. Usually MeeMaw goes with them, but she has to rest up from her work and then maybe I'll do my own trick or treating! Hah!

As Csd619 says, REMEMBER TO TELL EVERYONE TO VOTE. If they are going to be out of town, they are able to go down all this week and a half day Saturday and vote at the City-County Building on the second floor.

Peace, NA.

previously from NA Confidential:

"Speaking personally, I find Mr. England to be an interesting fellow, and quite charming. He's a classic schmoozer, relishes the daily combat of leadership, and is a wonderful salesman. But lacking any firm answer as to exactly what he intends to sell us, there’s little reason to be excited about yet another self-aggrandizing political comeback."

also: "Unfortunately, bluff and bluster aside, it remains that in the context of the year 2007, Mr. England puts the "old" back in "OLD school politics" … in the "good OLD boy network" … in observing “OLD ways” … and probably even in writing "OLD Days," the group Chicago's seventies smash hit, with lyrics about looking backward through rose-colored, nostalgic glasses."

Now they endorse England, go figure

The scariest thing ever happened in my yard for halloween, in the midsts of the animated zombies, severed heads, creepy crawly spiders, and the steady procession of ghouls, goblins, ghosts, and other assorted spookily attired children trick or treating.
My worst fears came to life, a living nightmare.......
Mr. Hollis cornered us with no where to retreat, no escape. We had no choice but to endure the VERY VERY VERY lengthy political promises of a man who swears by all he is worth, that if he is elected, there will be no more gravel roads in the city proper, that he will make sure that all roads are paved with that new fancy spangled stuff they call "blacktop".
God love the old man....but I was nearly considering chewing off my own leg and leaving it wiggling at his feet as a distraction to allow my escape.
THE HORROR!!

Isn't it the truth? You can't help but feel sorry for the man, and I hear he did serve us well over his 20 some years; but it sure is scary. Hope you made your great escape! I told him none of the neighbors would speak to me again if I supported him because of his involvement with the crack house the police finally busted. He still doesn't quite understand why "we" might feel that particular way. Scary just may be an understatement, at that! LOL.
