A BIG THANK YOU

A big thank you to all my family members, neighbors and friends have prayed and sent thoughts about my eldest grandson, Austin.

Today, after two years of misdiagnosis we have found it is nothing as serious as leukemia (as we were led to believe), but he has had a fractured ankle and a big chip off of his ankle going on 2 1/2 years now. The Dr. which did the misdiagnosis is the same Doctor which misdiagnosed my other grandchild, the one who had the "tethered spinal cord".

Unfortunately, this is the only pediatrician doctor in her insurance "referral" plan. She had to take Austin out of the "system" and go to an ankle specialist.

But, again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your thoughts and prayers. Yvonne

Great news, under the circumstances. Hope the news gets even better for your grandchildren.

Thank you, kindly. He's 12 (a tween, as he calls himself) and taller than me, already. Thank you again for the thought.

So glad your grandson doesn't have leukemia! Hopefully his ankle will get the proper treatment and he will have no problems with it in the future.
As more and more people are hit personally with these red medical flags, perhaps voters can change things around. I hope that Healthcare will be the main issue in the next Presidential election.
Best wishes and continued good health for your family (and may they have the money needed for the out-of-system care).

Thanks, and I hope healthcare is an issue, too. The pediatrician she went to was the "only" one available through her HMO, with $50.00 co-pays each visit.

Is there a country somewhere where you only pay the doctor when you are well and not when you are ill? Probably too socialized.

California is at least making a stab of providing healthcare for their citizens...definitely the time for changes in our current healthcare system.

Having always been a Consultant and being hired for various jobs through Professional Service Contracts, re computers, and now having come back for the grandchildren, I would be one of those who do not have health insurance.

Aggravating, to say the least.

My grandchild, Austin, has finally received his diagnosis, after thousands of dollars for a misdiagnosis. He evidently had an "extra" bone in his ankle; that is the missing bone part; and his ankle is totally fractured.

They gave him a cortisone shot and if that doesn't work; surgery is the next alternative.

My baby (she may be 30, but she's still MY baby), told me she is so frstrated after 2 1/2 years and the thousands she has spent...she wanted to call and give that Dr. the "hey". Gently nudging her, I have urged her rather than calling, write the letter and BCC all kinds of people with offices that hold the power.

I'm sorry. We can't afford the waste and that being the primary pediatrician for that particular HMO. I've advised her to write that letter, rather than verbally going off, and bcc everyone we can think of. It's not like this Dr. didn't misdiagnose Collin, with the tethered spinal cord.

May all of us see something GOOD come out of new legilation about HEALTH CARE...the time is here...
